MATSU’S ROUND REVIEW · J1 2026/27

J1 Round 10 review: Kashiwa lose top spot. Hiroshima, Machida and FC Tokyo keep coming.

Sorare GW23 · provisional scores

Kashiwa lose top spot and suddenly Hiroshima, Machida and FC Tokyo are all level on points. Kobe right behind them too.

Hiroshima probably impressed me most this weekend. Machida continue finding ways to win despite their schedule, while FC Tokyo are becoming a v useful Sorare team.

At the other end, Gamba finally remembered how to score. Verdy still havent worked out how to win.

Three early red cards also made this a slightly awkward round to judge. Some lovely Sorare scores, but definitely need to consider how those games developed before getting too excited.

For the next lineups, id start with the role and expected minutes, then ask what produced the score. The early reds make that second question particularly important here.

Sorare scores are provisional at the time of writing.

Shimizu S-Pulse2 – 2Gamba Osaka

Shimizu will be annoyed with this.

Match details, lineups & stats →

Two goals ahead through Honda and Matsuzaki, then somehow finish with a point. Meshino pulled one back before Jebali equalised in the 95th minute.

Gamba badly needed something after four straight league defeats without scoring. A comeback is encouraging, though I still need to see them put a full performance together.

Welton started and played 65 minutes. Usami came on at half-time, while Meshino replaced Welton and scored.

Useful contributions, but still quite an annoying attack to predict.

The best Sorare score actually came from Shimizu's midfield. Yumiba got 88.4, including 28.4 AA. Honda 75.7 and Oh Se-hun 76.6 also scored well.

Jebali got just 60 despite the goal, with negative AA. Meshino managed 67.8 in 25 minutes.

For me thats the distinction. The comeback matters for Gamba's confidence, but it doesnt suddenly make their forwards reliable Sorare scorers.

JEF United Chiba0 – 0Yokohama F. Marinos

The scoreline doesnt really tell you where the Sorare points went.

Match details, lineups & stats →

*Suwama 96.7. Park Il-gyu 90.6.*

Pretty lovely if you had both.

Park's score included 30.6 AA, which gives a better indication of his involvement than simply seeing another Marinos clean sheet. Suwama added 36.7 AA to his decisive.

Quiñones only got 54.1, so this wasnt a case of every Marinos defender automatically scoring well.

For Chiba, Suarez finished on 67.9. Another point, but they still need to start turning these games into wins.

The main thing to watch remains the Marinos goalkeeper situation. Park played and did well, but id still want clarity on Iikura's availability before assuming the position has permanently changed hands.

Suwama is becoming interesting in his own right too. A big score is useful. Keeping the starting spot is what makes it usable.

Tokyo Verdy0 – 4FC Tokyo

Pretty grim for Verdy.

Match details, lineups & stats →

Someno was sent off after 18 minutes and FC Tokyo made the extra man count. Scholz, Marcelo Ryan, Nagakura and Dani Gomez scored.

Five consecutive league wins for Tokyo now. The early red obviously helped here, but their improvement started well before this game.

The Sorare numbers were ridiculous:

  • Scholz 100, with 58.06 AA
  • Inamura 92.3, with 57.32 AA
  • Nagano 86.6, with 51.62 AA
  • Ishihara 71.4, with 36.42 AA

Inamura is the one that really stands out to me. No decisive carrying the score, just massive AA. Following his excellent score against Urawa, thats another reason to pay attention.

Wouldnt expect those numbers every week against eleven players, obviously.

For Verdy, Morita returning for ten minutes was a positive in an otherwise miserable afternoon. Someno's red creates another selection problem just as Soma is trying to get something settled.

Sanfrecce Hiroshima3 – 0Kyoto Sanga

Still bullish on Hiroshima.

Match details, lineups & stats →

J1 graphic showing a Sanfrecce Hiroshima player and the words Sanfrecce Hiroshima go top
Hiroshima go top after Round 10.

Suga opened the scoring after half-time, then Suzuki and Kato finished the job. Four straight league wins and another clean sheet.

The nice thing is they are getting more attacking options back without losing their defensive strength.

Asano came on for Haller and added an assist. Good progress from a short appearance, with regular 90s the next question.

Suzuki got 82.9, helped by a goal and assist.

The sneaky score was Nakano on 80.1 with 45.14 AA. Higashi also played the full game and got 79, which is useful after all the uncertainty around him before the weekend.

Suga scored but finished on 60. Another reminder that the goalscorer isnt always the best Sorare performer.

Kyoto offered much less. Ishida was their highest scorer on 56.4.

Hiroshima's squad depth is improving. Great for them. More work for us trying to predict the attack.

Kashima Antlers2 – 0V-Varen Nagasaki

Much more comfortable than the amount of rotation might have suggested.

Match details, lineups & stats →

Kashima Antlers 2–0 V-Varen Nagasaki.

Oniki made seven changes from the previous league XI after the Asian trip. Ceará scored an early penalty and Cavric doubled the lead almost immediately.

Five minutes in and Kashima had already done most of the work.

Cavric got 84.5, while Ueda finished on 79.3 and Hayakawa 75.1. Ceará scored but managed a more ordinary 67.9.

The bigger thing for me is Kashima being able to change that many players and still keep things controlled.

Wouldnt assume Cavric has suddenly displaced Suzuki because he scored. This was exactly the sort of game where the schedule was always likely to influence the XI. The useful clue is whether the role and starting place survive the next change of schedule.

Nagasaki struggled to produce much from a Sorare perspective. Hasegawa's 56.5 was their best score.

Kashima's defensive improvement is encouraging. The challenge now is working out which defenders actually start each game.

Cerezo Osaka2 – 4Kawasaki Frontale

Six goals, an early red and some fairly misleading conclusions available if you only look at the result.

Match details, lineups & stats →

Ohata went off after 19 minutes, but Cerezo still equalised twice through Lucas Fernandes and Komi before Kawasaki pulled away.

I wouldnt suddenly decide Cerezo's defence is hopeless based on this. Playing most of the match with ten men changes everything. Id want to see how they defend with the usual numbers before carrying this scoreline into the next preview.

Tachibanada got 92.3, including 32.3 AA alongside his goal. Probably the Kawasaki score I liked most.

Yamamoto also produced 36.1 AA for a 71.1 total, while Pedro Romano scored 73.4 in 45 minutes.

For Cerezo, Fernandes got 85.3 despite the defeat. A penalty and 25.3 AA is a pretty useful combination. Komi scored too, but finished much lower on 63.1.

Thats why I still like Fernandes when the minutes are there. He has several ways to score.

Ohata's red adds another defensive selection issue for the midweek game.

Mito HollyHock0 – 1Urawa Reds

Urawa won. Eventually.

Match details, lineups & stats →

Semba was sent off after ten minutes and Mito nearly survived the rest of the game, only for Shuta Sasa to score in stoppage time.

Quite a lot of work for a 1-0 against ten men.

I still think there is quality in this Urawa squad, but wouldnt use this result as evidence everything is suddenly working.

The Sorare scores were much more convincing:

  • Miyamoto 93.8, including 58.76 AA
  • Kaneko 91.7
  • Boza 81.6, including 46.6 AA
  • Yamane 70.4

Miyamoto's number is massive without a decisive. Kaneko supplying the winning goal gave him the extra push.

Again, context matters. Urawa spent almost the entire game playing against ten men, so wouldnt expect everyone to keep producing AA like this.

Mito deserve credit for hanging on so long. Semba's suspension is another problem for a squad already stretched.

Kashiwa Reysol1 – 3Nagoya Grampus

Probably the result of the round.

Match details, lineups & stats →

Nagoya Grampus goalkeeper celebrating in a yellow kit
Nagoya Grampus.

Kashiwa had been playing some of the nicest football in the league. Nagoya went there, took their opportunities and came away with three points.

Uchida scored first, Endo equalised, then Kimura and Yamagishi won it.

*Fujii got 100 with 32.96 AA. Kimura 79.7.*

For Kashiwa, Endo managed 71.2 and Fujio 60. Nakagawa still produced 20.2 AA for 55.2, which is respectable enough in a poor team result.

Wouldnt suddenly write Kashiwa off. Their recent attacking performances have been too good for that.

The bigger concern is Wakahara.

He started despite the previous concussion concern, then suffered another collision and was replaced by Nagai after 13 minutes.

Thats the main thing to follow before Wednesday. Nagai becomes relevant if Wakahara is unavailable, though Kojima's situation still needs checking too.

Fagiano Okayama0 – 3Vissel Kobe

Kobe's quality showed after half-time.

Match details, lineups & stats →

Osako scored twice and Thuler added the third. Okayama couldnt cope once the game started getting away from them.

The Sorare scores were strong across several positions:

  • Thuler 89.4
  • Osako 89.4
  • Muto 86.9
  • Yamakawa 76.2
  • Gonda 70.8

Muto's 26.9 AA alongside the decisive is encouraging. Osako's two goals did more of the work for his score, which is fairly normal for him.

Gonda returned in goal after Maekawa played the previous league game.

The goalkeeper situation remains annoying. A clean sheet helps Gonda's case, but im still much happier covering both and using the sub option where possible.

Nagato came off at half-time, so id keep an eye out for the explanation.

Okayama's highest Sorare score was just 44 from Miyamoto. Not much to take from this one.

Machida Zelvia3 – 0Avispa Fukuoka

Machida keep finding ways to win.

Match details, lineups & stats →

Back from Singapore, short recovery and still a 3-0. Pretty useful habit.

Yengi opened the scoring, Mae got his first Machida goal and Mochizuki added the third.

Mochizuki got 85.2, with a goal and assist. Akimoto 82.6 and Mae 76.4 made it a good day for those looking beyond the strikers.

Yengi scored but only managed 63.1. Ogawa played 77 minutes and got 41.6.

Thats the bit worth watching with Ogawa. Starting regularly is encouraging, but the role behind Yengi doesnt automatically give him the scoring profile people might expect from a Japan striker. Id judge the runs and positions the job gives him, rather than assume the name on the card guarantees chances.

Machida were clinical, with the chances closer than that scoreline suggests.

Mochizuki is probably the player whose weekend interests me most here. Attacking involvement from wing-back, good minutes and another useful return.

Fukuoka's win last week already feels quite a long time ago.

Few things stand out.

Inamura and Miyamoto are probably the scores I find most interesting. Both above 57 AA without a decisive. Definitely worth tracking beyond one favourable game.

Scholz continues showing why hes such a useful J1 defender to own. The goal helped, but 58 AA underneath it is pretty ridiculous.

Park and Suwama made the Chiba 0-0 considerably more exciting for Sorare managers than the scoreline suggests.

Just outside the top ten, Yumiba's 88.4 and Nakano's 80.1 deserve attention too. Particularly Nakano with 45 AA.

Looking ahead

Another full round on Wednesday, then more games next weekend.

The main thing is still knowing which players are worth taking the rotation risk on.

Kashima changed seven players and won. Hiroshima have more attacking options available. Kobe's goalkeeper situation still needs covering. Machida have just come through another Asian trip.

For me, FC Tokyo's defenders, Hiroshima's core and Machida's wing-backs are among the more interesting areas coming out of this round.

But dont simply pick everyone who scored well.

A 90 from a player whose role you trust is useful. A 90 followed by 15 minutes from the bench is considerably less fun.

Will keep an eye on Wakahara, the red-card suspensions and the goalkeeper situations before the midweek lineups.
